Robin White, Assistant Professor, Department of Animal and Poultry Sciences, Virginia Tech
presents Livestock at the Intersection of Sustainability and Technology
Are you concerned about the impact your dietary choices might have on the environment? Do you get frustrated with the conflicting and confusing food labels? Dr. White reviews the science-based information evaluating the environmental impact of animal-source foods and talks about why conflicting information exists. The talk will review the historical trends in environmental impact of animal-source foods, the role they play today both domestically and internationally, and discuss how integrating technology into this industry can help enhance sustainability.
$10/adult, Free for students but registration is required. All proceeds go toward our scholarship fund. Beer (age 21+) and rootbeer are available for sale at the bar. Please register by March 5. Seating is limited so don't delay. For questions email dfoulk@vt.edu.

Matthew Gabriele, Professor and Chair of the Dept. of Religion and Culture, shares his ideas on how The Game of Thrones has picked up subtle ways women gain power in patriarchal cultures, as well as misconceptions about the Middle Ages from 19th and 20th century culture, not historical events. Game of Thrones kicks off its final season in April 2019.
Grab a beer, cold-brew coffee, or rootbeer and meet Prof. Gabriele. Light snacks will be provided or bring your own. Guests pay for their own drinks; no outside alcohol permitted. Optional brewery tour afterwards.
RSVP by Feb 15. Space is limited! (Our last presentation was standing room only) Free to children under age 12 and students, $10 for all others.
