August 5, 2018... After weeks of rain, our 5th picnic brought the sun and heat along with alumni, new students, current students, friends and family. Once again, MANY THANKS to SAVORY FARE CATERING owner ANGELA SMITH and her husband Mark for catering and hosting at Twin Oakes Estate, and to all our volunteers for their work putting it all together. This year ALL CURRENT students were entered into the scholarship drawing in an effort to include new and older students. Congratulations to incoming freshman, Will Pearce, the winner of this year's $500 scholarship. The festivities also included a bingo game with squares related to all things Hokie, ladderball and cornhole on the lawn, a Q&A board to enlighten freshmen about things older students have learned, silent auction (THANKS TO ALL OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES FOR THEIR DONATIONS), and a 50-50 raffle—Congratulations Dennis Pearson. Also, after selling raffle tickets since last spring, Gray Coyner won the autographed football signed by Coach Fuentes. Plans for next year's event will be announced in 2019 on this site and through emails so spread the word... Hope to see you there!
